Wanted with Angelina Jolie

We caught two movies this week. We did Wall-E, and then saw Wanted two days later.

“Wanted” is an intense-action flick, and keeps moving from the moment it starts. This is a violent movie, so be prepared. It was more violent than I thought it would be. Angelina Jolie’s screen presence is the one thing you can’t question. When that woman is on the screen, you can’t focus on anything but her. It doesn’t matter who else, or what else is going on. She’s the perfect choice for this role, because I don’t think many others would be believable in the part she plays as “Fox”.

This movie is a rollercoaster ride, so make sure you’re buckled in, and expect lots of twists and turns to keep you on your toes.

It moves in directions you won’t even suspect. We really enjoyed this movie; though I could have dealt with a little less violence.

If you can stomach the violence, run to see this movie! You won’t be disappointed.

Don’t Forget the Chargers!

I’m starting to pack up for my vacation this week, but before I did I spent a little time cleaning my son’s room. Yes, he’s old enough to do that, but because he’s at this house part time, and his dad’s part time, sometimes I just do a quick follow-up cleaning.

We’re packing our ipods of course, but he has two. He has one in his room, but I think his iPod Touch is at his dad’s, so he’ll have to remember to bring that one.

One of the things I noticed is how packing has changed over the years. When you pack for a vacation these days, you have to remember all your chargers too! You have your cell phone charger, your bluetooth headset charger, your DS charger, your iPod charger, and any other things you may bring along!

At night, you’re walls are filled with little units that need to be plugged in!

We’ll be on the phone before I pick him up, with me going…do you have your phone charger? Do you have this charger, that charger?

Wall-E Review

Tuesday, my husband and I went to see Wall-E. My son had all ready decided it was a movie he thought would be too young for him. I agreed, and my husband and I went alone. What a lovely little movie that was.

That being said, I don’t see tweens and teens digging this movie all that much. Very young children and adults can really get the most out of this movie. The young children, due to the characters, and not a lot of talking…the adults, due to relating to the emotions and the message. I think my son (14) would have been bored, though we ended up enjoying it. We didn’t walk out and go…”Wow, great movie!” We did however walk out going…”nice movie”.

Was it magic? Nah, not for us, but it was a delightful 2 hours in the theater. Well done, nice story…but not my favorite animated feature. I’ll take Toy Story and Shrek for the humor happily, but Wall-E won’t do you wrong if you want a nice summer film.

Little Boy Haircut?

Yesterday we ran out for a little while. We saw a movie, had lunch out and ran an errand. The problem is that before we went out, as I was getting ready, I put too much product in my hair! Yikes, it ended up looking heavy and messy rather than nice! I have no idea what made me do that. I thought I grabbed one thing, but I’d grabbed another and put too much in my hair. If I had time, I would have rewashed my hair, but we we’re heading out shortly.

I grabbed my ceramic flat iron, trying to do what I could to make it look okay. My husband laughed at me, and said I looked like I had a little boy haircut, since it wasn’t how it usually was. Man, was I happy to have it back to normal this morning after my shower! I need to pay more attention.

Get Smart: Review

My son (14) and I (41) went to see “Get Smart”. I used to watch the television series with Don Adams, and loved it as a kid. My son went in, not knowing anything about the character.

I love the heart that they’ve given to the character, and Steve Carell did an excellent job in the part. Anne Hathaway did a bang up job as Agent 99.

It’s a fun movie that has you laughing, smiling, and having fun all the way through it. It’s a nice family film you can go to without being embarrassed in front of your kids.

I wouldn’t say it was belly laughs all the way through it, but we definitely laughed a lot. It had more heart than I expected, and kept us fully entertained.

Rant: Icee drinks set us back $5.00 each! Tickets $9.50 each

If There is Silence

I’ll be traveling in July. If there is silence for awhile, know I haven’t forgotten about my blog. I’m taking a vacation with my son. My husband will be here with the dogs, but he isn’t a blogger, so he won’t be filling in.

Alas, I’ve found some great cheap hotels for the in between road time. When I say cheap, I mean inexpensive, not tawdry and run down! I’m a hotel snob, so that wouldn’t work for me.

We’ll be in Orlando, Hilton Head and Myrtle Beach for a few. I’m looking forward to the trip, but not sure what kind of internet connection I’ll have at a few of the places. I know at 2 or 3 of them, I’ll be hooked up, but the final part of the trip, I don’t think I’ll have internet. We’ll see if there are any hot spots while I’m there. ;)

Reminder: Groomer Has It Starts Early!

If you watch “Groomer Has It” on Animal Planet, it starts at 8pm EST tonight, not 9pm.

At 8, there’s a special showing bloopers, unseen footage and other goodies. The actual final show is at 9pm. Just a head’s up in case you weren’t aware of the extra show before the main one!

It’s down to Jonathon and Artist! While Jonathon may be an exceptional groomer, his attitude sucks. (or what they show of it on television. He has a chip on his shoulder. A great groomer, should have a great attitude, and with that in mind, we want Artist to win!)

One Step at a Time

I don’t talk about it hear often, but I’ve been working with a personal trainer and dietitian since September. I’m not losing like the people on “The Biggest Loser”, and I’m not looking like one of those before and after pictures. At times, I’m tempted to take diet pills, but I’m not sure it’s the answer for me. Sure, lots of celebrities have promoted them over the years, Carmen Electra, Anna Nicole, and the likes, but as for me, I think I have to just keep moving more and eating better.

I’m also insulin resistant, which means that my insulin isn’t playing along like it should be. I’m on medication now, so I’m hoping that makes a difference.

I’d love to be one of those before and after people like Kirstie Alley, Valerie Bertinelli, or other people we see on TV, but I think it’s going to take me a little longer. Oh well, one step at a time.

Phil’s in Trouble

Did you watch Deadliest Catch this week? Phil’s got something going on, coughing up blood, and has a white spot on his x-ray. I hope it isn’t lung cancer. It doesn’t seem like it was actually a broken rib poking his lung after all, but the big slam during the storm aggravated something else.

Phil’s my favorite captain. I was really sad to see him so sick. The thing I hate about this, it’s a reality show, real people, not some made up character and not real health issues. This is real, Phil is a real person. :( Hope he’s okay.

7 Words on George Carlin

Funny, Outrageous, Silly, Unique, Entertaining, Laughter, Gone.

These words can be said on TV, while his famous 7 can’t. I once saw George Carlin perform live when I was a teenager. My parents brought my sister and I to one of his concerts. It was laugh until your sides hurt funny…and it left me a fan.

I’m a few days late. I wasn’t sure what I wanted to say. I was sad to hear he had passed. :\

When it comes down to it, nothing was more well known than his 7 word list, except maybe his list of names for a guy’s…well, you know. :)

I’d heard he had heart issues for awhile; I was unaware of that. Luckily it wasn’t anything like mesothelioma.

If you hadn’t ever heard George Carlin, give his recordings a go. They are classics!
I loved his unique perspective on comedy, and will miss it.
